Privacy Policy

Match Caddie is a golf scoring and GPS app for iPhone and Apple Watch, with this companion website, built and operated by Jerome Digital LLC, a sole-developer studio. We collect the data needed to run a golf app — your account, your scores, your shot locations if you turn shot tracking on, and your photos if you add them. We don't run ads, we don't use analytics or tracking SDKs, and we never sell your data. Some features share your golf data with people you choose, and one feature sends your golf data to an AI provider to answer your questions — both are explained below.

Account information.When you sign in with Apple, we receive and store a unique user ID and your email address (your real one or Apple's private relay address — your choice at sign-in). If you share your name at first sign-in, it seeds your display name, which you can change.

Profile. Your display name, and any avatar or profile banner photo you upload. Handicap index and GHIN number if you add them or connect GHIN.

Golf data.Rounds, hole-by-hole scores, putts, penalties, statistics, the courses you play, and game/wager records you enter. If you enable shot tracking (off by default), we also store the precise GPS coordinates of each shot you record, tied to your account — that's what powers club distances and shot maps. Course maps you set up (tee, green, hazard, and pin locations) describe the course, not you.

Social data.Your friends list, friend requests, blocks, the players ("buddies") you add to score rounds with, and your per-friend sharing preferences.

Photos. Avatar and banner images you choose from your photo library. We only receive the specific images you pick.

Device and notifications.If you allow notifications, we store your device's push token and an app-generated device ID (a random ID created on install — not a hardware or advertising identifier) so we can send things like friend-round and match notifications.

Feedback. Feature requests, votes, and feedback you submit, associated with your account.

Payments.Subscriptions are sold and billed by Apple through the App Store. We never see or store your card, bank, or billing details — Apple keeps all of that. What we receive from Apple is subscription information: what you subscribed to and whether it's active, so the app (and website) can unlock your features. That status is stored with your account.

GHIN connection (optional).If you connect your GHIN account, your GHIN email and password are sent from your device directly to GHIN's service to fetch your handicap — they are stored only in your device's Keychain and never on our servers. We store the resulting GHIN number and handicap index with your profile.

• No advertising, and no advertising identifiers.
• No analytics, tracking, or fingerprinting SDKs — in the app or on this website. The website sets only the cookies required to keep you signed in — no advertising or tracking cookies. That means there's nothing for "Do Not Track" or Global Privacy Control signals to turn off; you're effectively opted out already.
• No marketing email lists. We'll only email you if it's about your account or a request you made.
• No selling or renting your data, ever.
• No reading your contacts, health records, or anything else outside what's listed above. (The Watch app saves your round as a Golf workout in Apple Health to keep GPS active during play — that workout data stays in Apple Health on your devices; we don't receive it.)

To run the app: score your rounds, compute your stats and yardages, sync between your devices, show your friends what you've chosen to share, send the notifications you've enabled, and improve Match Caddie based on your feedback. That's it.

"Ask Your Data" lets you ask questions about your golf history in plain English. When you use it, your question — and the portions of your golf data needed to answer it — are processed by Anthropic (the maker of Claude) as our AI provider. Your conversations are saved to your account so you can revisit them, and you can delete them in the app. We use Anthropic's commercial API, which does not train on this data. If you never use Ask Your Data, none of your data goes to Anthropic.

You — your data is private to your account by default, enforced by per-user database rules.

Friends you approve — you control per friend whether they can see your live rounds, your completed rounds, and your stats. Accepted friends can also see your handicap and GHIN number. You can change these toggles or block someone at any time.

People with a share link— live scorecards can be shared via a public web link. Anyone with the link (no account needed) can see the round: player display names, scores, hole details, and any game/wager results — but not photos, emails, or GPS coordinates. Links expire automatically (24 hours for links you share manually; up to 30 days for rounds shared with friends). Note: if you've given a friend round visibility, starting a round creates such a link automatically.

People you play with — players in your round or match see the shared scorecard, including your name, handicap, and scores. If a friend scores a round for you, that data lives in their account too.

People you send exports to— you can export scorecards as images or PDFs from the app, and PDFs include your shot maps: your recorded shot locations drawn on the course map. Sharing an export through the iOS share sheet is entirely your choice and ours to neither see nor control — once it's sent, it's in your recipients' hands. (Web share links are different: they show scores, not shot locations.)

The developer — Match Caddie is run by one person. For support, debugging, and development, the developer can access data in the database, including account emails and submitted feedback. This access is used only to operate and improve the service.

Legal requests— we'll disclose data if we're required to by law or a valid legal process (like a subpoena or court order), or where necessary to protect the rights or safety of users or others. We'll push back on requests that are overbroad.

A future owner— if Match Caddie is ever acquired or its assets are transferred, your data would move with the service under the same commitments in this policy, and we'd notify you before any material change took effect.

Nobody else.We don't share your data with any other third party except the service providers below, who process it on our behalf.

• Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage (hosted in the United States).
• Vercel — website hosting.
• Apple — Sign in with Apple, App Store billing, and push notification delivery.
• Anthropic — AI processing for Ask Your Data (see above).
• GHIN — handicap lookup, only if you connect it, directly from your device.

Match Caddie is operated from the United States and data is stored there. If you use the Service from outside the US, you're sending your data to the US.

You can add players ("buddies") who don't use Match Caddie — typically a name and optionally a handicap or GHIN number — to keep score for them. That information is visible to you and to participants in shared rounds. If someone has entered your information as a buddy and you'd like it removed, contact us and we'll take care of it.

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account in the app (Me → account settings → Delete Account). When you do:

• Your profile, email, friendships, notifications, device tokens, AI conversations, uploaded images, and solo rounds are deleted.
• Rounds and matches you shared with other players are anonymized, not deleted — your name becomes "Deleted User" and your identity is unlinked, but the shared scorecard (scores and gameplay records) survives so your playing partners keep their history.
• Course maps you contributed remain available to the community, no longer linked to you.
• Any residual copies are removed from our systems within 30 days.

Rounds you delete in the app are recoverable (soft-deleted) — they're retained so you can restore them until your account is deleted. Signing out removes your session from the device but doesn't delete anything.

• Location: iOS location permission is required for GPS yardages; it's "while using the app" only. Decline it and you can still score rounds.
• Shot tracking and advanced stats are off until you turn them on.
• Sharing: per-friend visibility toggles; block anyone; share links expire on their own.
• Notifications: standard iOS controls.
• U.S. state privacy rights (California and others): you can request access to or deletion of your data — the in-app deletion and the contact below cover both. We don't sell or share personal data for advertising, so there's nothing to opt out of.

Match Caddie isn't directed at children under 13, and you must be at least 13 to create an account. If we learn we've collected data from a child under 13, we'll delete it.

Data is encrypted in transit, database access is scoped per user with row-level security, and GHIN credentials never leave your device's Keychain. No system is perfectly secure, but the attack surface here is deliberately small. If a breach ever affects your personal data, we'll investigate and notify affected users promptly.

If this policy changes materially, we'll update the date above and note it in the app or on the website.
